Mocktails and more for a more conscious holiday
The holidays are right around the corner, and as someone who doesn’t drink alcohol (or only does so very rarely), I know how long the family feast can feel sitting there with just water and juice. So why don’t you do things differently this year and prepare some yummy and healthy mocktails, perfect for any occasion? You can even prepare these a day ahead for your family feast, for the kids or for other people who don’t drink the whiskey sour.
Other than the really rare occasions where I enjoy a gin and tonic or a glass of Cremant, I don’t drink alcohol. I haven’t for many years now. I don’t have ethical reasons or a problem with alcohol. As simple as it is, I don’t like the taste of alcohol, and most of all, I don’t like the hangover and the lost time afterwards. Even though I enjoyed drinking in the past, and on some occasions find myself sipping on a glass, you will barely see me drinking.
I can remember exactly how it felt the first year, when we had been invited to dinners over the holiday season and summer BBQs and weddings and picnics, when people recognized I didn’t drink. And I remember that I started to count how many times people apologized for only having juice or cola and found it amusing and surprising how much attention and conversations started because I didn't drink.
After a year, I started to bring my own bottles with mate, ginger ale or something else to parties and picnics, and when we went out, I looked for mocktails on the menu.
And you wouldn’t believe what an ice breaker mocktails (or bringing your own ginger ale) are!
Plus, you don’t cross any expectations from family and friends, can enjoy the holiday season and get your daily dose of veggies and fruits on top of it.
So in preparation for this year’s dry, but certainly not boring, holiday season, I collaborated with Margaux, the founder behind Margalaxy and the Food Cart BestFriend PDX, to create a few Mocktail recipes just for you this holiday season.

Sparkle up this holiday season!!!
What to drink for this Holiday Season?
Booze, like a best friend and a worst enemy, can seem ever-present at pivotal life moments. When you give up drinking, saying no to champagne toasts at weddings and beer at the beach can feel like saying no to not only a drink, but part of an experience. This is where the wonderful wide world of non-alcoholic drinks swoops in to save the day!
Each day you have a choice! While sometimes you may feel like the party pooper – it's okay to say no; and YES to a delicious non-alcoholic beverage. You have the power to help better yourself and your body. Commit to one thing this Holiday season, and you will see results you never imagined. Enrich your life! Living alcohol-free may be challenging. Make sure you have a good support system to help you thru the first few weeks.
Personal growth is necessary – and (sometimes) painful. I was introduced to alcohol in college, where I thought I needed to drink to fit in. If I wasn't drinking, I wasn't cool enough, or popular enough. In order to grow you must make changes to please yourself – and not others. But now? Taking the time to focus on what is important in life, knowing I’m whole and enough and beautifully radiant, inside and out, just as I am. With or without anyone else's approval. With or without substance. That’s personal growth. It sure ain’t easy.
When you drink a mocktail, you WILL feel glamorous holding a colorful drink. Having other options other than alcohol can give you more confidence on a date or at a work event. Booze-free, full of flavor, no consequences. Join us and live a hangover-free life. BOOST your body this holiday season! Banish your FOMO for good with our delicious non-alcoholic beverages to compliment YOU. Here are some of our delicious mocktails to help you bounce back and recover after a filling Holiday Meal. Cheers to your health!
